Unit 3 Reflection

This unit revolved around the assessment of language skills. We reflected about what we expect from a student regarding each of the four skills, how much value it should have during assessment and moreover, the ways in which a teacher can make them manifest in order to assess from there. We learned about the importance of including non-linguistic aspects as a part of the assessment process. By assessing these aspects, we make sure to reward the positive behaviors that help keep a class fluid and organized. Once we had thought about how to be present during the manifestation of the different skills, we had to develop different activities based on the situation we had described in unit 2.

We learned how to keep our assessment process organized throughout the design and usage of assessment rubrics in which we assign a value to the different levels of proficiency we observe in order to turn our assessment into something more fluid and objective. After this, it was only easier to design a simple organizer to keep track of our assessment.

These are all extremely useful resources that we will use in our future teaching careers.
